Changing the oil in a Ford Focus

Changing the oil in a Ford Focus. The Ford Focus used oil with a viscosity of 5W-30 or 10W-30. To change the oil will need 4.5 quarts gallon (about 4.5 liters) of new oil pipe wrench 13 mm for the drain plug and a wrench 3 inches (7.5 cm) for the filter oil. Change the oil every six months if you walk regularly along the route, or every three months if you walk by street.

Instructions

  1. Raise your Ford Focus using a jack and then place it on supports. If you do not have support, drive your car to a pair of ramps wheel.
  2. Pop the hood and remove the dipstick and the oil filler cap. These components are usually near the motor and the shaft usually has a yellow handle.
  3. Collect a tray for dripping oil, a pipe wrench 13mm wrench 3 inches (7.5 cm) to the oil filter, cleaning rags and new oil filter. Slide them under your Focus.
  4. Locate the oil filter and the oil drain plug under your Ford Focus. The drain plug is near the engine block and filter next door.
  5. Remove the oil drain plug using the 13 mm socket wrench. Remove the plug and allow the oil to drain for 10 to 15 minutes. Check the seals and threads are not damaged. These components replaced if needed.
  6. Remove the oil filter using a wrench 3 inches (7.5 cm). Pour the old oil into a drip tray for oil and place the new oil filter. Adjust the oil filter by hand and then replace the oil drain plug using the socket wrench. Clean excess oil.
  7. Go under the hood and add oil. Start the engine and check the oil pressure gauge to ensure that up. If it does, quickly turned off the car and add more oil.
  8. Lower your Ford Focus and starts the engine. Take a reading with the dipstick. If the oil level is not at full capacity, add a little more.
